From a nature lover, backpacker to a travel entrepreneur - an inspiring journey of resilience.
A country boy raised in the heart of Africa β Uganda, Paul has had an eventful life spanning three decades, a love for nature, an outdoor enthusiast who has explored the savannah woodlands of the tropics of sub-Saharan Africa, the East African stunning national parks and its natural wonders like the Great Rift Valley.
In one of the yearly corporate team-building events organized by my employer to one of the countryβs game parks β Murchison Falls National Park, along the way, we made a stopover en route to the park at Gateway Kabalega campsite. In the cold, wee hours of the night, I sat around a campfire with a team of friends talking about life and the universe at 3:00 AM.
Next day β We entered via the south gate near Masindi. The drive to the top of the falls (a must-see) was approximately one hour. Lots of baboons were on the roadside.
While traversing the park, I was blown away by the beauty of this national park and the sheer numbers of wildlife that I saw. During the game drives, we saw a group of elephants, numerous giraffes, a pride of lions, leopards as well as hyenas, kobs, warthogs, and oribis.
Added to this was the stunning cauldron of the Murchison Falls β admittedly the worldβs most powerful waterfall β and a boat trip on the Nile.
The scenery was fantastic, and the game drives were awesome.
However, I noticed that quite a few of the sites in the park maintained sufficient tourism practices and environmental awareness.
Determined to make a difference, I thought of a company that focused on responsible travel and conservation efforts that would partner with the locals to create eco-friendly itineraries β ensuring that travelers can experience the beauty of these natural areas while also contributing to their preservation.
I therefore curated a name β Green Origin Tour, referring to the forest/woodlands and its restless natives of the wild.
This is the inspiration that is embedded in our passion for Mother Nature and travel, and it has spirited us to start a sustainable tourism venture.
